The moment I was given the chance to become one of the fitness ambassador of Fit Access Philippines, I know what’s coming for me: new adventures and new sports to explore!
And first on the list we’re trying out? Archery!
I have no idea how to shoot arrows but I have always dreamed of joining The Hunger Games. I guess I’ll just have to use more of my braincells? Loljk. I would definitely need more than that.
So I finally had the chance to try it out few days ago at The Archery Academy, located near Greenhills Shopping Store, few walks from the back of Promenade. It was special just because it was only us that night who booked for the 8:00PM – 9:00PM class. Bam.
Upon arriving, we’re required to sign a waiver, which is always a must to any sports or fitness activities that might be dangerous or physically challenging.
Right after, it’s all briefing and training. The first few minutes covers safety protocols, proper handling of bow and arrow, and then how to load and aim. You’ll also learn how to maintain a good posture before shooting an arrow, finally doing that very fine first shot.
It took me around 20 minutes before I finally got a good precision on shooting, almost ready for a Hawkeye stint, or The Hunger Games, or rather as a cupid instead? Haha.
When you’re done, you can keep the target sheet for your keepsake. First remembrance from archery class yeah boi! #bucketlistgoals
Overall, the staff are very welcoming and approachable so ask away if you got questions. The equipment and venue is good. Not a big place but big enough for beginners to practice. They have provided all of the gears I needed so it was perfect to try out Archery for the first time.
Training took around 15 minutes and you should be able to shoot your first arrow on the 20th. The coach will then leave you alone and it’s for the good because you’ll have all the remaining minutes to shoot as many as you can. Soon as you get the grasp, you’ll feel like an hour is a little too brief, it’s gonna make you go back. And yes, I’m definitely coming back to hit that bull’s eye for real. The price is reasonable and I think I have a new hobby to get busy with.
